"If the world is serious about achieving the Millennium Development Goal of
halving the number of people living in extreme poverty by the year 2015, ICT must
figure prominently in the effort. Everyone - governments, civil society, private
sector businesses - has a vital stake in fostering digital opportunity and putting
ICT at the service of development."

David Sogan
Trustee

David Sogan has had a long term passion for Africa which started when he drove from London,
across the Sahara to West Africa in an old VW van in 1988 to make a film.
He ended up living and working there for six years and became deeply immersed in helping young
Africans to realise their potential, first working for two years with the Duke of Edinburgh's
Award Scheme and then three years as Director of the Junior Achievement program in Africa,
training and promoting young business entrepreneurs.
On returning to UK, he spent 5 years as Director of Programmes for the Duchess of York's charity,
Children in Crisis, where he set up successful education and healthcare programmes in some of the
world's most notorious trouble spots, including Afghanistan, Sierra Leone and Bosnia.
In 2002 he founded the charity Digital Links International to provide affordable computers to
developing countries and spent 5 years growing it into a well respected and effective charity,
supported by many leading companies in the UK. This has given him a wealth of very relevant
knowledge to bring to the Digital Pipeline.
David now works for the Solar Energy Company, G24 Innovations as their Business Development
Manager and lives in West London. He is very happily married, has two young sons and spends
most of his spare time with his family. His hobbies (when he has time for them) are Tennis
and Fly Fishing.
