One of the first tasks on our ‘to do’ list in January was to enter into the “Business Commitment to the Environment” award (run and endorsed by the Kent Invicta Chamber). Shortly, after submitting our application we were informed that we were through to the next stage - as one of three finalists.
Following our selection we were invited to attend the Gala Dinner at the Cathedral Lodge, Canterbury; a black tie event where the awards were being presented. With approximately 135 guests present all nominated companies were well represented. The evening which included on a three course meal – served around the awards was topped with entertainment from the mime act - ‘Men In Coats’.
“It felt wonderful that the work Computers 4 Africa does has been recognised by our local community. The evening was a real treat. Everyone was in high spirits and very supportive of each other. The company on our table 8Point3 ltd walked away with Best New Business at the start of the evening and had their fingers crossed for us throughout. Despite not winning, we still got to go onstage and came away with a finalist’s trophy, - we will be back!” Sharon Roberts, Head of Marketing.
Computers 4 Africa are environmentally conscientious and the very nature of our work minimises our impact on the environment. By refurbishing redundant PCS, which have been donated by people in the UK, and shipping them out to schools and community projects in Africa we are repurposing them. This extends their lifespan and helps to educate people in the continent.
