On 27th January Digital Pipeline CEO, Bevil Williams, attended the Xcelerate Literacy EduHack challenge held at the University of Cambridge. Xcelerate is an annual conference for students who believe in making the world a better place, and actually, do something about it.
Each year a new high impact topic is chosen and university students from all over the world are invited to put forward their solution for a chance to win a £20,000 prize to make it happen.
This year’s challenge was about tackling low literacy rates in rural area of East Africa with the use of digital technology. Many charities, NGOs, and organisations running student projects in Africa attended the event. The teams of students competed for the £20,000 prize and the chance to spend one month in East Africa by showcasing their solutions. Students all the way from Peking University in China team won the challenge with a fantastic solution and will be heading to East Africa later on this year with the support of Cambridge University and Digital Pipeline.
